Description of the fly trap
The Agrobiotop fruit fly trap is a robust solution for professionals concerned about the health of their crops. This trap is specially designed to counter infestations of two of the most devastating pests: the spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) and the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata).
Product Features:
Consisting of a durable yellow plastic conical base and a clear dome-shaped bucket, this trap is both aesthetic and functional.
The pheromone basket, which easily attaches to the bucket, is designed to use specific pheromones (not included) that attract fruit flies to the trap. The light effect diffused by the transparent bucket intensifies the attraction.
Equipped with a suspension rope, the trap is easily fixed at an optimal height of 1.5 to 2 meters in fruit trees, for effective capture of pests.
How the trap works
Pests are attracted by the combination of pheromones and light. Once they enter through the yellow funnel, they are unable to get out and eventually drown in the soapy water solution at the bottom of the trap. This method captures males, reducing mating, but also prevents females from laying fertilized eggs, reducing the pest population.
